The bookshop is located on Paris’s Left Bank. It was originally a boarding house for aspiring writers and was even featured in Ernest Hemingway’s memoir. The aesthetics will take you back in time; to an older and quieter Paris.

El Ateneo Grand Splendid., Argentina

The bookshop is located in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was even featured in 2008 by The Guardian, as the second most beautiful bookshop in the world. This year, National Geographic listed it as the world’s most beautiful bookstore. It was originally a performing arts theatre; then a cinema, before it became an indulgent place to read a book; drink coffee and listen to live music.

This bookshop has its origins as a 700-year-old Catholic church. It is located in Maastricht, Holland, and has a massive three-storey bookshelf with staircases, elevators and walkways. Interestingly, the church was abandoned for almost 200 years and in that time served many purposes including a bicycle warehouse. It was restored in 2006; and now includes a modern cafe, where customers can relax and read a magazine or daily newspaper.
